Rare glimpse inside the neglected and abandoned dungeons of Wisbech Castle. Many leading Roman Catholics were held in the dungeons. At the end of the 16th century 33 Roman Catholic priests there were incarcerated here. Later Robert Catesby and Francis Tresham were also imprisoned here and once released went on to become the principal conspirators in the Gunpowder Plot. Plans are currently underway to restore the Castle and grounds.
