Alba Carolina by Cristina Ivan

Alba Carolina

The statue of a soldier guards the citadel of Alba Carolina, close to the St Michael's Roman Catholic Cathedral, the oldest and most valuable monument of architecture in Transylvania, Romania.
Built between 1715 and 1738, the Alba Carolina Citadel is one of the most impressive in Europe. Shaped like a heptagon and recently restored, the largest citadel in Transylvania offers a wonderful chance to discover the historical, cultural and architectural places of interest of the city of Alba Iulia.
