Arriving at a castle by bicycle makes you feel like a modern knight, huffing and puffing towards the gate. It's how I've arrived at every historic site I've visited in Scotland, and I feel that this shot embodies the spirit of adventure that comes with visiting places like Caerlaverock. It's what every kid would draw if they imagined a castle, with a moat, twin-towered gatehouse and an epic history going back more than 750 years. This was taken with my Samsung Galaxy S6 phone while sitting on the bike, which I then rode to six others castles in southeast Scotland before catching the train back to Edinburgh. A great little adventure, and this shot, for me, encapsulates the playfulness of it all.
