Alcázar de Toledo

The castle was erected in the years 1486-1570 in the upper part of the city of Toledo.
The castle was of strategic importance as an almost impregnable fortress protecting the city.
The first fortification in Toledo was built by the ancient Romans. In 568, the fortress was rebuilt by the Visigoth Leovigild to fulfill the function of the royal palace.
