Arromanches at Sunrise by Jason Driver

Arromanches at Sunrise

On a bitter cold strip of beach at Arromanches les Bains, I waited for the sunrise surrounded by silent giants. These sections of a Mulberry Harbour, vital to the support and breakout of D-Day, are scattered throughout the beach and off shore. As the sun started to rise over the quiet horizon and picked out different colors on this harbour section I was struck that sometimes the largest symbols of military strength are not weapons at all.
