Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucestershire, England by Lisa Graham

Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucestershire, England

Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucestershire, captured from the surrounding meadows at dusk. An outstanding example of Norman architecture, rich in history from several periods, from its origins as a Benedictine monastery, its role in the pivotal and bloody Battle of Tewkesbury during the Wars of the Roses, and its survival of the Dissolution. An inspiring and enduring building which continues to endure even today, many times marooned as the surrounding land and town disappear below floodwater.
