Halnaker Holloway, South Downs, UK by Matt Emmett

Halnaker Holloway, South Downs, UK

This ancient holloway near Halnaker on the South Downs (UK) is the perfect example of human activity and nature working together to create a lasting impression on the landscape. The use of heavy carts, the herding of livestock and regular human footfall since ancient times has lowered the level of the lane throug erosion, whilst the trees and bushes that line the lane grow up and over to create a wonderful tunnel effect.
