Colchester Castle by Matthew Wright

Colchester Castle

On a day trip to Colchester, I was given a personal guided tour around the castle (after nobody else showed up for the tour!). On the roof, there is a sycamore tree growing on the southeast tower, thought to have been planted in celebration of the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. This 200-year-old tower-top beauty was caught ringed in the mid-afternoon sunlight as we looked out over the town on a beautifully clear day.
