Pevensey Castle by Meg Stockley

Pevensey Castle

Pevensey Castle was a Roman Fort, known as 'Anderida'. The castle has been refortified at various times, in 1066 when the threat of invasion was high, since 1066 it has been remanned twice, during the threat of the Spanish Armada and during the Second World War, remnants of pillboxes can still be seen at the castle today. During a recent visit to the castle, being an aspiring Historian/History student, it's history fascinated me, the story of its use throughout the centuries, the signatures of the WW2 soldiers that were based there lining the castle walls in many places, and much more. I hope this image helps to represent the immense history that many people get lost in and I find my self emerged in all the time.
