I found my fairytale dream in Castell Coch, a 19th century Gothic Revival castle built above the village of Tongwynlais in South Wales. My princess bedroom must be Lady Bute's coffered bedroom, with a double-dome ceiling that rises up into the tower's conical roof. But it's the room's rich decoration with the love theme which really captured my princess heart. The Marchioness's scarlet and gold bed is the most notable piece of furniture in the room, modelled on a medieval original drawn by Violett-le-Duc. The bed's glass-orbs became my point of fascination for the photo, as within its depths it reflects the room upside-down . Yet the orb still keeps its bed knobs-and-broomstick charm capturing the past, but is also a crystal ball to the future...
