Qutub Minar, Delhi by Sheila Mortlock

Qutub Minar, Delhi

Over several visits to Delhi I went back time and time again to this UNESCO World Hertitage site right in the centre of Delhi. It is memorable for the carvings over the whole site but also the fact the Minar was started by the first Muslim ruler of India, in 1200 added to by Iltutmush and more levels added to the Minar by further rulers becoming the tallest tower in the world for hundreds of years. So many examples of Indian architecture to choose from but this remains a favourite. This photograph is of the pillars in a courtyard beside the minar.
